PIONEER adopts Ubiquitous' DeviceSQL Embedded Database
for use with its CDJ-2000 and CDJ-900 DJ Equipment

Ubiquitous Corporation [JASDAQ:3858], hereby announces that our ‘UbiquitousDeviceSQL’ embedded database is to be incorporated in ‘CDJ-200′ and ‘CDJ-900′, new professional multiplayer products for use by professional DJs/clubs released by PIONEER CORPORATION (Head Office: Meguro-ku, Tokyo; President: Susumu Kotani; hereinafter referred to as ‘PIONEER’) on September 17, as well as ‘rekordboxTM’(*1), the music management software included in the above equipment.

The new DJ equipment includes the ‘PRO DJ LINK’ function, which allows up to four DJ players to share music files or DB information via a network, as well as music file information management, play data management and search functions. To implement these new functions and the improvement of quality and operability, some of the functions of DeviceSQL that were used effectively include an ultrahigh-speed search function optimized for embedded devices, the index function, and ‘DeviceSQL DataStream’, a protocol for device-to-device data communication.

PIONEER’s DJ equipment has a high share of the world market and is established as the de-facto standard in the world of professional DJs. With the spread of networks, DJ equipment has recently changed to a new style that allows users to enjoy music using various music files, such as MP3. As a result, PIONEER has released the CDJ-200 and CDJ-900 professional multiplayer products for professional DJs/clubs as products to build a new DJ lifestyle in the file music era(*2). ‘PRO DJ LINK’, one of the functions included in this DJ equipment, allows the sharing of music files or DB information stored in a single USB device or SD memory card between two DJ players connected by a LAN cable. In addition, this function, when used with a switching hub, allows up to four DJ players to be connected and used.

Comment from Mr. Yoshitaka Mitsunari, Director of Software Technology Department, PRO SV Division, PIONEER CORPORATION
“Before developing our new products, we had several checkpoints for selecting software to implement their functions with. These are as follows: (1) integrated management of data distributed among two or more devices/storage media on a network; (2) quickest search with low memory capacity; and (3) standardization of application programs between different platforms (OSs/CPUs). One important point is that Ubiquitous staff’s deep knowledge of embedded software and their support greatly contributed to our actual product development.”

Comment from Matt Kawauchi, President of Ubiquitous Corporation
“PIONEER CORPORATION is a DJ equipment maker that builds a new DJ lifestyle. We are very pleased that PIONEER has realized the advantages of Ubiquitous’ embedded database and adopted it for use with their leading-edge products. It is also a pleasure for us to have been helpful in PIONEER?s development of new products. We wish to further enhance DeviceSQL and provide support to allow our customers to develop products more efficiently.”

About Ubiquitous DeviceSQL

UbiquitousDeviceSQL is a product specialized for embedded devices and provides both a database function and a data processing function. In addition to the world's smallest class database engine (minimum memory footprint: 24 KB), UbiquitousDeviceSQL provides a framework to implement a data management function optimized for embedded systems.

UbiquitousDeviceSQL, consisting of DeviceSQL SDK, which is accompanied by the DeviceSQL programming language (PL/SQL-compatible), DeviceSQL Compiler, SQLProbe database operation tools and sample applications, and service libraries with tuned performance, can substantially support all target OSs and CPUs. In addition, UbiquitousDeviceSQL can be embedded into most of the common development environments and tools and also can be easily integrated with existing device software applications. It has already been adopted around the world for use with various types of equipment such as cellular phones, IP set-top boxes, car audios and liquid crystal projectors, and is also shipped as an embedded product.

In connection with the above, Ubiquitous hereby announces that it will include PIONEER's CDJ-2000 professional multiplayer product for professional DJs/Clubs with DeviceSQL at ET2009 (Embedded Technology 2009), an exhibition that will be held from November 18, 2009 (Wednesday) in PACIFICO Yokohama. It will be exhibited at our company's booth (Booth No. D-61).
